About Kathy

I took my first John F. Barnes Myofascial Release course in 2010. It then took me numerous classes and a few years to truly understand the dichotomy of this work; both of how extremely complex and how incredibly simple it is. I continue to be amazed and in awe of this healing modality.  This work can go as deep as the client is willing to allow it to go.  I’ve elevated to the clinical level John labels “Expert Level” however I am acutely aware that there’s always volumes more to be learned.

This work seemed to fit effortlessly into my profession as an Occupational Therapist. I’ve been an OT for over 35 years and therefore feel completely comfortable both authentically talking to clients, as well as using the healing power of touch.  OT’s are trained to astutely listen to, observe, and attend to what’s important to each specific client, with the understanding that we are all unique with our own ideas of what’s important to us.  I am also the mother of a son on the autism spectrum, therefore keenly aware that we are all much more than our diagnoses would lead us to believe.

I believe having both the medical background as well as the holistic modality background serves my clients well.  It’s a benefit to them that I am able to pull from my long history in Occupational Therapy to coordinate it into the education portion of my MFR practice.
